IR1 for wife and separate IR2 for child - how to link them?

How long does it take on average to get an I-130 for category IR2 approved? Here's my story:

In April 2006 I filed an I-130 for my wife as an LPR. In March this year I became a US citizen and upgraded my wife's petition. It was approved by CSC almost immediately and sent over to NVC. Since I became a USC I had to file a separate petition (I130) for my daughter under the IR2 category.

Now my wife's case is already moving quite fast at the NVC but my daughter's I130 has not been approved yet.

We'd like to link those 2 I-130s together so that we don't have to go to an interview at the consulate twice. My concern is that my wife's interview might be scheduled when my daughter's petition is still in its early processing stages.

Does anybody know how to link those 2 up? Should we wait with sending my wife's documents back to NVC until my daughter's I130 is approved and assigned an NVC case number and then contact them to connect the 2 petitions? Or should we move on and try to arrange one interview with the consulate directly.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

LG

So..any help or advice? :crying:

Nobody ???? :help:

I guess nobody other than us is in the same situation. I'll keep you posted on how everything unfolds.

What I did on my stepsons I-130, section D #1 and 2, I typed in there that I had an approved I-130 for his mother, gave the the case number and attached a copy of the NOA2 for her I-130. Her petition is waiting on some docs she still needs to complete her ds230 so I hope his I-130 and hers will come together in the near future.

I did enter my wife's petition and USCIS case number on my daughter's I-130 in that section but I don't think it will ensure they link them up for joint processing automatically.

I'm going to try to request that the NVC marries my 2 case up once my daughter's I-130 has been approved.

By the way, do you guys know how long on average it takes for the California Center to approve an IR-2 application? My daughter's have been sitting there for almost 2 months and no NOA2 yet. They say it may take up to 6 months but I think timeline is actually shorter.

Hi! We are in the same situation. My husband filed my I-130 last January 2006 when he was still an LPR and upgraded it last March 28 right after he became a USC. You are blessed that you immediately got your wife's approval for her I-130. Unlike us, we are still waiting until now. We also filed for our daughter's I-130 last April 3 and we are also waiting for her approval.

I'm glad that I found this thread because we also do not know what to do if in case our petitions will be approved separately. Kindly give us an update once you go through the process. Thank you in adavance.
