I am going to Rhode Island on the weekend and plan to stop @ Tim Horton's. Has anyone been there? Does the coffee taste like the Tim Horton's available in Canada?

I have .. and all I gotta say is American's don't make good coffee.. I think it's a defect of the workers.. not the coffee itself..

yep I have!! been to a few in RI and CT, and they all SUCK!!!!! lol In laws live in Middletown for part of the yr, and every 4th of July we go up and every yr i try Tims and 99.9%%% of the time I am dissapointed. I can recall only 1 time where I thought the taste was similar. There is 1 Tims in Newport that has a Dunkins close by---you will see a huge line up at Dunkins, and no one at Tims,lol But a sucker as I am, i wil try Tims again this Summer,and most likely be dissapointed,lol

I have to agree with flames. The wife and I have also tried Tim's from several locations in the US. THEY JUST CAN'T GET IT RIGHT!!! We have Tim's at home too and I agree it still doesn't taste the same as from a Canadian Tim's. But it is still better than the US Tim's stores.

We bought a Bunn coffee maker and it helped the flavor of our home made Tim's. The things are a bit expensive but, worth every penny as far as brewing Tim's at home.

Maybe it is just me but I like Krispy Kreme's coffee better

We have one here on the Montreal's south shore and I brought coffee for some of my co-workers once ... They did not know what the heck was Krispy kreme and they absolutely loved it. They could not understand why there is not a lot more krispy kremes here in Canada. I like their doughnuts better too (so did my co-workers when they tasted them), although I admit they are VERY sweetened, but I have a sweet tooth anyway .. lol

Don't get me wrong though, Timy's coffee is very good too, used to grab my Timy's morning coffee every day before heading to work

I don't get it. Tim Horton's is like a slightly upscale McDonald's. Their food is "okay" at best and their coffee is nothing special. I've tried it (in Canada) and it's so-so. I've had much better both in the U.S. and in Canada.

My wife doesn't understand what's so "great" about Tim Horton's either. She'll only get coffee from them if we're out somewhere and she's desperate.

If I'm going to a coffee shop, I'd much prefer Second Cup or Blenz. Actually, there's a fantastic little coffee shop near us called Cornerstone.

Everyone has their preferences. A slightly upscale McDonalds? I don't know about that. I really like the food. While I love the donuts, one of my favourite things about Tim's is the egg salad. I don't know about the rest of the U.S., but trying to get an egg salad sandwich here is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Not even deli's seem to carry it. Amazing.

There is certainly a group of people even from where I lived who didn't frequent Tim's often and referred to it as where "bottom dwellers go". These same people were rather "elitist" coffee drinkers and preferred coffee shops that often didn't even have brewed coffee and had their latte's, their frothy cups of cappuccino. There wasn't a downtown Tim's where I lived at all, so all the office workers had to go to coffee shops and houses.

Well, I liked that chick stew thing in a bread bowl and Tim's made a really nice Ham and Swiss sandwich, that I used to get for lunch. I've tried some of the items sold for lunch at the local Dunkin Donuts and they are just gross. Who wants this overpriced tasteless flatbread sandwich for lunch??

For those at home who are using the Bunn machine, are you using 18% coffee cream? Or the US equivalent? That is what they use at Timmie's and that really kicks the flavour up when you brew it at home to match the instore experience. That is what they told me to do at Timmies here in BC when I complained that it didn't taste the same.

I can't eat clam chowder (at least not the New England variety) after having seen "Fight Club."
