The only problem with this is traveling. It is a big hassle to travel outside of the community. TAXI business will thrive in this environment.

My husband and I recently did a 200 mile round-trip to two different cities in Northern Ireland traveling strictly on the buses, all for about 40 GBP. It was easy-peasy once we had the timetables figured out. No worrying about whether or not you had enough fuel in the tank or air in your tires, driving in the darkness, how tired you were, or how much liquor you had consumed.

You didn't take the train? (Have they updated it at all?) I always loved how Antrim station is the closest to the 'international airport' at Belfast and yet they never attempted to create a train link or even a bus one. Made traveling to Uni interesting :)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Yes, time to get people off the couch and on their feet. It's the nanny state's way of telling you being obese is no longer a mark of distinction.

We had the choice of the train or the bus. The fares were comparable and the stations were right beside each other. But we missed the train by 10 minutes so took the bus instead.

Not in a subdivision in the US, no I wouldn't.

In Europe you could probably get away with it. You definitely don't need to personally own a car if you live in a town.

Americans are prisoners of their automobiles, IMO.

Better than prisoners of mass transit.
