She has a one year old named Onyx (pron. On-Ix).

Weird.

No more than Barbara Hershey's 1967/1968 change of her last name to "Seagull" (as in Utah's state bird, generally unloved in any other state).

My favorite was always Moon Unit Zappa. Oh, and Dweezil Zappa too. :P

I always thought that Nina Hagen came up with one of the oddest names for her daughter:

Cosma Shiva Hagen.

OK, i've got several names that are FAAAAAAAAAAAAR worse than any mentioned thus far.

I used to teach primary school, and there was a teacher there who named his child (I $hit you not) Godestablishedme Escobedo.

My freshman roomate in college was from a small town in South Carolina. He graduated with a girl with a weird name. When this girl was born, her mother went to go fill out the birth certificate and mixed up the boxes on the form and thought "Oh, they already named my baby"........ Female. She tried to add an accent to it in junior high, and pronounced like the nation Mali. But none the less, her name was Female

My aunt has this really stupid friend who was about to be a grandma and she was asking for Italian sounding names as she was Italian, and I said: "How about Felatio?" and she was like: "Yea I like that!"

Duuuh. Luckily the child didn't end up with that name but it was still funny that she liked the suggestion and had no clue the word's meaning.

If someone wanted to illegally immigrate to Canada why wouldn't they cross the border at someplace that doesn't have checkpoint? It can't be that hard considering the length of the border.

I can remember my wife's MIL giving some name suggestions which she said came from the Hindu epics (accurate enough, just like the names "Jezebel", "Ahab", and "Jeroboam" are found in the Bible). I was glad none of those names even got considered (they shouldn't have been mentioned anyway).

Discrimination my @ss. That is what happens when people don't read up before trying to travel abroad. Canadian law is quite clear about this and applies it across the board. Like DP said: a letter from her host family would have possibly sufficed.

Every time I ever visited the US I was asked how much cash I have on me and how was I financing my trip (whether it was personal or business). I know plenty of people who've been denied entry to the US because they have no job and no cash. WTFs the problem with Canada doing it?

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

We cannot include those people who don't have cash from entering the States. It's understandably many who do that like this woman did is dumb. It's also understandably that many who don't have cash or job also visit their friends and family in the state. They may just have received cash from their family just to visit. Things need to be looked at a case by case basis.
