Hi all!

We just got our GC in the mail last week. :D I know it's a ways off, but we would love some advice about how to stay prepared for the removal of conditions in 2 years. We want to try to be organized about all the things we need to save and get together so it's not craziness when we go to actually file.

Thanks all in advance! :content:

For us (we thought like you):

Both our names on things like:

  • Lease (for home/apt)
  • Health/Car Insurance (either or both)
  • As many utilities as possible (not always possible for 100% but that's OK).
  • Bank/Checking account(s)
  • Income Tax returns

That's about it - we keep a folder that we drop things into as we think of them - we'll update them to more recent things as we get closer to Lifting Conditions time. Plus we know (for sure) where all our documents are from the K1 and AOS stage - so we're not panicking looking all over for things later on.

Also keep some pieces of mail that come in both your names, especially that is postmarked.

Congrats on getting your conditional GC.

Please read this thread for a complete list of documents you will need for removal of conditions on GC after two years.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=182620

Also check the USCIS website for the instructions on filling out I-751 or Removal of Condition (Google search: USCIS Immigration Forms). Check the website they might change the form name and instructions for completing it in 2 years.

Start collecting documents and put them a plastic bin/box so that after 2 years you don't panic, because it takes time to build up evidence and proof for bondafide marriage.

Good Luck :)
