Hello,

does the I-134 need the be signed by "officer Administering Oath" or not?

Since there is a spot for a notary to sign I assume it is required.

The instructions indicate it does not, and USCIS call center says, "just follow the instructions on the form, sir - have a nice day."

Here is the actual quote on the instructions form:

"For this reason, it is not necessary to sign Form I-134 before a notary, nor to have your signature notarize after you sign it."

What's the deal?

i think what my hubby did for the I-134 (im K1 as well) was that he just went to his local bank and they notarized it for him. i believe it was just a standard notary procedure.

New form does not need notary.

Plus - re-read this:

"For this reason, it is not necessary to sign Form I-134 before a notary, nor to have your signature notarize after you sign it." :bonk:

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

I have ours notarized before. But I think they have new I-134 which doesn't requiry notary. Well, it is safe to have it notarize...it's just cheap and easy to get notary. It is even for free at the bank (wells fargo).

Eternally destined,

Thanks for the feedback.

I know that the previous form required it, that's why I was a little unsure.

Just to be safe, I think I will have it notarized anyway.
