i applied for AOS in june 2007, got my ead in january 2008, i had my interview on feb. 29th, 2008, signed some papers and was told to wait 2-3 weeks to hear from them. i finally made an infopass after my lawyer wrongly told me i was approved and did not need a new ead. i just got laid-off and applied for unemployment cause my laywer told me i was eligble. wrong answer. when i asked him to send me my approval letter ( he lives 3 hrs away) he told me he made a mistake and it was a different person. so i might lose my job and unemployment because i did not renew EAD. i went for infopass to see what the wait was about, and they told me i was in final review upstairs. what does that mean and why would that take so long? she also told me i would not need anymore fingerprints. i applied for another ead anyway, because i do not trust anything the uscis says.

Longest wait for adjustment of status I have seen in a while!

Fire the lawyer!

Pain, renewing EAD in your case will cost $$ you filed AOS BEFORE the rates went up (July 30, 2007), so EAD was not part of AOS fee.

From what I understand Un-employment is an insurance plan paid for by employers, and is NOT means tested so does not fall under the I-864. You should be eligible for this.

What type of visa did you adjust from?? We filed to adjust status from a K-1 around the same time as you and were approved for green-card withing 4 months.

i was here out of status, i come with my ex-husband who was in the army, he abondened me before we removed the conditions. i later got married and filed for AOS. I just hope final review means that it is the last step. as far as the unemployment goes i was legal to work but the ead expired, so till i get a nwe one i can not answer yes to being able to work. so i have to wait to refile my claim till i get a new one issued. i do not know what the hold up on my AOS is. the officer just said he had to check something in the computer and will let us know. my online status never changed since oct. 2007
