hello everyone here, just want to ask what it is all about I-94? after getting into the usa what should we do? how to get ssn?

September 2008: started k1 process

November 2008: attorney send i 129f g325A and other documents

November 24, 2008: NOA1 finally

February 20, 2009: NOA2 at last

March 4, 2009: Got MNL number

March 21, 2009: Received USEM letter thanks god

March 24-25, 2009: Medical Passed thanks god

April 22, 2009: INTERVIEW DATE!!!!!

April 22, 2009: Approved K1 Visa THANKS BE TO GOD!

( thanks to my friends here and someone who answers all the questions i have its a long journey we thank u so much)

April 29, 2009 : Visa on hand

April 30, 2009: CFO

May 7, 2009: leaving phils to lax

May 29, 2009: civil wedding

june 10 2009: ssn got w/ married name

july 22, 2009 aos packet sent

and then follows AOS filling and got GC at novemeber 2009...

You can get your SSN if you have your green card or EAD already as far as I know. They didn't give me SSN when I only showed my passport. My sis-in-law who's on a K-1 was not given also unless she got married to my brother and had her green card. I don't know in your case I am only stating what I know from our personal experiences. Good Luck. Maybe in your state it's different.

You may apply for your SSN before or after you will have your EAD.

It depends on what state you are. U can always go to the SSA office and try to apply. I got my SSN before marriage with my maiden name. It's just easy to change name too but of course you will go to the SSA office twice and wait for your card again for another 2 weeks (at most). You can also apply your SSN right after marriage provided that your I-94 is still valid even if you dont have EAD or GC yet. Just be sure to put a check mark on the section "Alien Allowed to Work" on the application form.

You can apply for your SSN before or after you get married. But it is much better if you would apply after getting married so you would not go back to SSA office (in your area) twice.

In my case i applied for SSN after we got married and got my card less than 10 days. Just bring your passport and marriage certificate and fill up SSN application form.
