i have a question

My friend was asked to go to have her passport stamp with the I-551 because she did not received any NOA

when she got her I-551 stamp it includes a WAC#, she told me that she received a biometrics letter scheduled on the 13th of this month

If she does not have that NOA letter would it be a problem?

thanks

I believe that the I-551 stamp is as good as the NOA1 already. On the day of her appointment, she will just have to show her biometrics appointment letter, Green card, and passport.

oh so she does not really have to worry or request for a NOA?

Day of her appointment meaning? the biometrics right?

Yes, the appointment letter, green card and her passport that's all she needs for the biometrics appointment. Her I-1551 stamp would allow her to work/travel some people here posted with same issue and did ok.

okey that will be relief, she thought that there was a problem with her paperwork that is why she did not received any NOA. i just got confused because i read on the other topic of mine that the I-551 is not a proof that you filed I-751 but the NOA does, so i asked if not receiving the NOA will cause her a problem with regards with the entire process of removing the conditional status of her gc, not only at the biometrics appointment.

If she didn't get the NOA but got biometric it means that so far USCIS found nothing wrong with your application. Sometimes they forget to send out NOA. So If you get biometric letter and I-551 stamp you should be good.

On biometric appointment day, all they look for is the appointment letter, expired GC or possibly your passport.

So NOA doesn't come into picture at all for the biometric appointment.

I hope it helps.

I never received an NOA letter throughout the whole I-751 process. I did get my passport stamped with the I-551 stamp and even used it for travel while I waited for my I-751 to be processed. I was approved with no problem even though I never had an NOA letter. Your friend doesn't need to worry. The stamp is her proof that she is here legally - and it probably also states the date she applied for I-751 on it (mine did). She can use the case number on her biometrics letter to track her status online.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
