I-485 additional information request: what does this mean for EAD?

My online case tracking for my I-485 application has been changed to: 'request for additional information sent'. It's not yet arrived in the mail. Is this to do with my wife having filed her taxes now? It's got me really worried as I now they can take another 90 days to approve my EAD can't they? In our relationship I don't want to have her worry about paying rent and supporting me while this application is on-going. I seriously don't know if I can manage to be jobless for another 90 days.

Any advice?

RFE is incoming.

Until you get that - you won't know what they want.

It should not hold up the EAD - unless it has something to with the EAD.

If you can't go another 90 days without working, how close is your wife to the poverty line?

Her income is enough to support me: it's personally just very difficult for me to be unable to contribute. I feel completely useless and this is the longest I've ever gone without working in my adult life. Her place of work is closing soon in the near future and I'd hoped to be able to prop her up if she couldn't find anything immediately.

When the Service issues an RFE on an I485, processing of the EAD and AP are suspended until the RFE is issued.

As soon as you receive the RFE send whatever they requested right away and track that mail. Don't worry about it. I received a RFE, mailed what they needed within an hour of reading my mail and there wasn't a long wait to get my EAD.

I guess it depends on if you have what is needed at your fingertips or if you have to request it from an outside source. For me it was my husband's proof of citizenship which was already send but I guess if they needed another copy then all I had to do was copy his passport and mailed it again first class with tracking confirmation. Don't sweat it, most of the times it is a simple matter. Hope it goes well.
