Funny how people think that meeting online raises a red flag under IMBRA rules. Now, the OP is saying it raises suspicion by meeting thru family or friends. Hmm, whatz left? I guess bumping into your destiny at the grocery store, yes, that is the safe answer I will use! :D

hehe, sorry to lower the amount of serious here but that was a good quote.

Why not say I saw her bending over to pick up a pack of kotex that she had dropped on the floor and it sealed the deal.

Ohhh jeez im having to much fun tonight ...... ignore me if you can....

During my research on the visa interview, I've come across a couple of things that I'm wondering are true:

First, I read that if you met your fiancee through a family member or a friend, it's a warning sign for the interviewer. Why would this be?

Second, if you tell the interviewer that you want to work in the States, this raises another red flag. I guess there are obvious reasons for this, but my fiancee does plan to work because we want to start a family and hopefully have a house of our own someday. If we want these things to happen, I can't be the only source of income. So, what is she supposed to say?

Thanks for your input.

Hi there. I have read so many topics here about fiances having to go thru the anti-fraud department at US Embassy Manila of having met the foreign fiacee thru a relative. So if I were her, I'd be careful when prompted with those type of questions. I don't think those people were denied though, they were just investigated further, and thus prolonging the process. But Goodluck to you.

Why even bother mentioning anything about the family/friends connection. How did you two first meet? Meaning not who set up the meeting but exactly what did you do when you first met? Email, face to face in the market, etc? Start there and then tell the story.

And if the CO was to ask who introduced you, why not just say friends.

Just a thought.

i met my then fiance through my cousin and i did not have any problem at all. the CO asked me how i met my fiance then i told her that my cousin introduced us. then after that she did not have any follow up question. my interview lasted less than 2 mins. i believe that every cases are handled differently so it doesn't necessarily follow that if you met your fiance through relatives or friend then you might be taken to the fraud unit. just be confident and consistent with your answer.
