He has an amazing imagination and is a good writer (to me at least). I have read several of his books but I am currently reading The Time Ships which is a sequel to H.G. Wells The Time Machine . It picks up where The Time Machine ended. I'm 1/3 of the way through and so far so good.

Interesting. I wonder what kind of legal hoops he had to jump through to have the right to write a sequel? I can't imagine he is the first author to have at least tried.

Wells stuff is public domain, I believe.

Same with Marc twain and virtually any 19th century writer you can name.

Unofficial sequels are all the rage at the moment. There's actually a version of pride and prejudice that's been rewritten to include a sub plot about a zombie attack.

There's an app on the iPhone that has 20 classics. I think it's 99 cents. I read the time machine that way and pride and prejudice is on there too.

I'm not keen on unofficial sequels as it seems conceited to me for Joe writer to think he can do a better job than the people he's imitating, though in wells, case its a moot point as wells wasn't the best writer to begin with. He did have some original ideas for his time.

The pride and prejudice thing is really scraping the barrel imo, basically vandalising the original work.
