When I traveled from Manila to the U.S., I locked my checked suitcase with a TSA-approved lock. When I picked up my suitcase in the U.S., the lock was broken and it was obvious that someone had looked through my suitcase. There were no valuables in my suitcase, and nothing was missing. I don't know whether my suitcase was searched in Manila or on the U.S. side. Hmmm...

if the TSA searches your bag they are suppose to put a "ribbon" on it so you know it has been searched

You're right payxibka. I forgot about that. That happened to me before when I was traveling within the U.S.(I can't remember if it was a ribbon or a flyer inside of my suitcase). Anyway, there was no ribbon on (nor flyer inside) my suitcase this time, so it was likely "searched" in Manila. Hmmm...

I now have a bigger and stronger TSA-approved lock for my suitcase...hope it helps.

My bags have been inspected and a flyer placed in them 2 of the 3 trips to Philippines. When I opened my suitcase in the Philippines I found the flyer, nothing missing. I use my had carry bag for all cameras and camcorders I do not put them in the checked baggage.

My experienced was that I was there when they scanned the bag, THEY DIDNT LIKE WHAT THEY SEE SO THEY CALL ME IN THE SPEAKERS TO REPORT TO THEM. So i went and see them, they opened my luggage and it was Sto. Nino ... they asked me where I bought it and I told them Sto. Nino church in Cebu, they look at throughly, scanned it and shove all my stuff back in luggage, it was organized but when that fat freaking lady closed it, she was pissed. I think the TSA do get some type of bonus if they catch something in the luggae or bag. But then I dont blame them , drugs and other stuff can be form into something and u cant even see it in ur bare eyes. It happened in LA, go figure!
