Hello all,

I am in the process of requesting a CR1 for my husband and a CR2 for his son, my step son. I am wondering how it would be possible to being the boy's mom to the U.S. For numerous reasons we would like him to be in the states but we would also like him to be able to have a relaitonship with his birth mom. What would be the steps we would need to take to bring his birth mother to the states?

Thank you for your help.

This is correct. Unless the mother is one of your siblings, then there is no way for either one of you to file a petition for her.

A US citizen child must be at least 21 years old to petition for a parent. Be careful that you do not sever the parent-child relationship. If you adopt the child, you may sever that relationship since a person can only have one legal mother. He can be your step-son and his biological mother's son but I don't think he can legally be your son and her son. This is a legal issue and not a real life issue.
