Hey ya'll,

I'm just trying to work ahead a bit and I have started preparing my support documents for my English fiance. So here's the deal....

I am a graduate student and I only work part time. Unfortunatlly, and sadly, I make under the required amount with my job. I supplement my income with financial aid. Can I use the fin aid as part of my support or do I need to get a co-sponser. It sucks because in a year I will be fine to "support" him, but not in time for the paperwork. My parents have agreed to co-sponser if needed, but how do I go about involving them? It seems like there is no place to have a co-sponser fill out info. Do I just have them complete the same paperwork and send it in with mine??? Also, when the time comes for him to be a permenant resident in a couple years, I will be working full time and be out of school. Can I pull my parents co-sponser and be the sole sponser or are they stuck for ten years???

Any input would be great!!!

Hello Jenni,

Yes you will have to get a co-sponsor, they will fill out the same form that you do for the support and send it in with yours.

Once your fiance gets here and you are married then you will have to determine what your income is at that time to determine if you will need a co-sponsor or not when you file for Adjustment of Status.

Good Luck
