Just want to hear some advise from you guys:

My soon to be husband is born in China, from what I understand, we will need the notarized birth cerficate from the Gong Zheng Chu in China (guang dong province is where he was born). He has been living in Hong Kong since age 9. I do some research and seems like we can have a lawyer in Hong Kong to get the notarized birth certificate for him. But the cost is a lot more than what the Gong Zheng CHu charged if we go there ourselves...

So, I just want to know, how long does it take to get the notarized certificate if we go to Gong Zheng Chu in China ourselves? What kind of documents do they need to make the process faster? Anyone have experience about getting the document through some agencies or lawyers in Hong Kong?

He doesn't have relatives that still live in China to help him on this. I just want to make sure we have all needed documents before we actually file after we get married in May.

It only takes a day or so to get a cert from the Notary office, along with an English translation.
