Wow congrats… you might plan on a week in Guz, Attend the American Citizen Hour .. I think it’s on Monday’s now. Some think it makes a small difference. Take a day or 2 to get the medical. If all goes well it’ll take 2 days to pickup the visa after the interview at the China post. There are rooms for rent in the same building as the consulate which makes it easy plus the people who rent them will check over your paperwork and escort you to the medical, and visa fee if you wish. Good Luck

(The hotel address is A805 room, 8th Floor, Tian Yu Garden(¢ò Phase),136-146 Lin He Zhong Road, Tian He District, Guangzhou, China. Phone: 1372482886

Yes, with an interview on a Tuesday, I'd plan on her arriving early and doing the medical with the help of Yang Jihua and his staff there at the Tian Yu Garden, maybe arrive and do medical Thursday before and then you arrive Saturday or Sunday. That will allow more time after the interview. You aren't needed for the medical etc. Then, if the ACH is on Monday, drop in for that. When approved the visa will be available Thursday or Friday unless she's in Guangdong Province and they can mail it to her. This plan allows maximum time after the interview.

be sure to allow some time to help your Fiancee organise a file folder with all docs she might need to reference in the interview. provide her with plenty of details of your life and lifestyle, job, and family relationships. also, remember to tape a ziploc bag to the front of the folder in which she places your passport, so that the VO can't miss the fact that you are there.

We called on Friday the 20th, and got our interview date (4/28/2009), I was worried that we might not see the P-4, because Yizhen is in the US with me on a K-3. They said standard mail about 30 days. This morning I heard the doorbell, it was FED EX, P-4, 6 days! The driver said that the guy yesterday tried to deliver to 9656, the address is 1/2 a block away from ours 9616, I think he needs glasses. When Yizhen got her K-3 P-4 in Liuzhou, it was 5 days, I think it depends on the city, or if it is a rural area. Your wife should tell the postal man that she is expecting something. Good luck, Mike & Yizhen

By the way Rod, are a member of "Candle for Love", if you are, what is your display name? CFL is a site for Chinese American couples. There are many knowledgeable members willing to help get you through the process. My wife and I will be arriving in GUZ on the 20th. We are staying in the same building complex as the Consulate.

Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen

Rod, spritz2 gave you the info for Mr. Yang, we will be staying there again, we stayed there for the K-3 in 2007. There will probably be 5 couples there and one couples parents. I am not sure if the couple will be there with the parents. Yes, it would be good to get together with a few people to celebrate. I am not sure if you know this, but the prices in GUZ will be higher that week, there is a sales fair of some kind we tried several other places and they were all higher for this period. Mr. Yang is very nice and we enjoyed our stay there in 2007. His wife was pregnant, so we will get to meet their child. The apartments are pretty spartan, but they are plenty good enough for the price. We will be staying 11 or 12 days. Washing machine, kitchenette, bath, bedroom, and living room. AC was needed in Aug, it worked well. Internet and tv. We were not there too much, so we were very happy with the price. Mike & Yizhen

You should try to get the room quickly, or you will pay more and stay further away!

Rod, I just reread my last post, and it sounds like I am saying that the 5 couples are staying with Mr. Yang, I was trying to say that there are five interviews that week; 4/14 IR-1; 4/20 IR-5; 4/21 2 CR-1/IR-1; 4/22 CR-1; 4/28 2 IR-1's. I don't know where they are staying yet, Mike & Yizhen
