Our case was send to Kiev from NVC.

We do know KEV number, we don't have a letter from NVC.

Can we schedule medical exam without NVC letter?

I am not sure about the letter. E-mail the Embassy and see if they have an appointment date and time. You can get that information faster than the letter.

You need to have your medical exam one or two days before the interview. At least my wife did. They do not give you the results that day. I think she had to go back and get the brown envelope which you do not open.

Someone else should be able to tell you about the letter.

Yes. Go ahead and schedule medical, you only need the KEV number. In Kiev you can usually get the medical appointment on 3-4 days notice.

I'll add my comment to brother Gary's correct answer. We made our appointment way before the letter(s) arrived from NVC. Vika went to Kiev to pay the visa fee and have the medical exam a week or two before the interview, but you can do it all in 24 hours (possibly, although I wouldn't recommend it if you are on a tight schedule with tickets).
