does anyone know what i need to do to make sure i dont receive gst this year. i just moved feb 7th and i just dont want to receive my gst next month and owe them money, ive tried a few of the numbers on the cra website and always get a busy signal, is there some other way to get ahold of them, or some way to notify them without having to spend hours on the phone trying to get someone to pick up?

When I filed my last tax return I just didn't check off the GST box. I never got another check after my Jan one.. (which I was in the country for).. it was simple with my timeline, don't know if it will work with yours.

Yes, you should notify Canada Revenue Agency and the Department in charge of CPP (whatever the heck they are calling it these days) that you are no longer a resident in Canada. You can send a letter including your SIN, your old address, your new address and the effective date of the change to both. CRA will send you the appropriate income tax form for your Province to your new address so you can file for your 'exit' return (if you haven't already filed your tax return). You should be able to get the addresses from online.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
