Okay, I'm American and my husband is Irish. We submitted all of the required forms for a K3 visa and yet once he was approved, it was on a CR1 visa. We've been married for over 2 years now, and I'm curious as to why we got the CR1...? Anyhow. He got interview and all of the like, and is here now in America since Tuesday of this week. Now, we're confused as to what form needs to be filed next. Does anyone know if he needs to file an Adjustment of Status form and a work authorization permit? Should we still follow the K3 visa procedures? Or is there a separate set of procedures for the CR1? Thanks!

Since you are married for more then 2 years at time of your husband POE, he should have gotten IR1 visa which is valid for 10 years. I recommend you contacting USCIS or make Infopass appointment to make them correct his visa. If your husband gets IR1 visa(which he will) you dont have to do anything in terms of paper work with USCIS. But you do have to apply for his Social security card if it doesnt come within 2 weeks.

Agreed, if you entered the US after your 2 year wedding anniversary, you should have received a IR-1, which would entitle you to a 10 year GC. If this was the case then make an infopass appointment and get it corrected at your local USCIS office. Good Luck!!!

Thank you so much to those of you who answered! I assumed that the CR1 status was incorrect! This process is never ending! We've made an appointment with infopass for this Tuesday. Thank you again for all your help!
