hi just wanted to ask, who schedules the interview, the nvc or the consulate??

Depends if your consulate is appointment post or standard. For appt post, the NVC does. Also depends on K3 or CR1, usually for K3 the consulate schedules most interviews.

Call NVC and they will have the answer for you. Their # is: 603-334-0700

Yes, NVC assigns interview date. When you submit DS230 package, form DS230 has two part1 and part 2, both parts has to be filled but only part 1 has to be signed and part 2 will be sign @ time of interview.

second thing i come across reading threads here is about affidavite of marriage.. we have no joint account or property or policy now is it compulsory ?? and do i have to go for third part affidavite of marriage in tht case??

There is no such thing is silly question. Dont wrry, Its ok to ask so you understand whats going on. NVC will not send you/lawyer any form, they only send fee bill and give you instruction where to download form. You have to download DS230 form travel.state.gov website.

That person who told you about mumbai consulate sending DS230 part1 and part2 is correct, but most likely you wont need to fillout that form again since you will have to submit at NVC before even your file gets to mumbai consulate.

Affidavit of marriage is not mandatory but someone people use it to show more proof of relationship, but if you thing you have enough proof of relationship then you wont need it. And if you want to have affidavit of marriage, you can have your friend or family member do one for you.

i ws afraid because its long time since he last visited india in june (in feb 08 we got married and june he came for 15 days) so i ws wondering if i can make tht affidavite as proof of our relationship...

Yes i think that is enough proof, but you might want to include wedding picture as well as any honeymoon pictures. And if you can make affidavit as proof that will work too.

good u c u after long time queue.. cant say anythin is under control until i get interview date.. lol.. i cant trust this people until last moment

BTW now the lawyer has asked original birth certi. and marriage certi. in both english and gujarati... i dont know much abt it but he told my hubby tht after af. of support and all docs. will be reviewed NVC people will send a letter askin for original certi. of BC and marriage .. dont know actually whats the std procedure so i hv to harass u people..thank god u al r replying so quick..i can sleep well after gettin ans of my queries so fast ..
