Which date is the right one?

We applied to TSC on March 08, 2008 and it was received there on March 14, at which point we were transferred to the VSC.

But we didn't get the NOA1 until May 13 AND then we received ANOTHER NOA1 with the same receipt # on May 21st!! In the meantime we received the Biometrics notice on April 18, way before the NOA1's!

B]My first question: on the NOA1 is the date I should be using for calculating the processing time, the 'notice date' or the 'receipt date'??

Next issue - when I initially tried to setup 'case status online' at the USCIS site, it would not recognise the 'receipt #' on the NOA1! It would however recognise the 'application #' on the biometrics notice!

So I called the mis-information line at the time and they reassured me that our case was in their system under the 'application #' and all was well. We also checked again with an Immi Officer at OKC when we went for biometrics and we were in there fine.

Question 2 - anyone else had this happen to them?

So we then forgot about it until a year had passed at the beginning of March. I checked online and it showed a 'touch' on February 22, 2009. Since then there has been nothing at all and now I am confused as to what date we should be basing our processing on.

But right now they are processing April 20, 2008, which is after our receipt date on the NOA1's, April 11 2008.

I am going to call them tomorrow and try to find out more, but if the 'notice date' is what we should be going on then we're in trouble. As my DL and my Green Card extension expire on May 15!! And we will have been in processing 14 months and 2 weeks by then!

Anyone?

Just to reassure you NO ONE can access their status using the NOA number. Only the biometric number works - the NOA number is an internal use number only, so don't let that worry you.

There are applicants who filed in December 2007, plus applicants who filed in January and February 2008 who still have not received their approval notices or anything else. They are working on files that include April but are not working only on April files nor have finished up the files preceding April. You are still right within the time zone for VSC approval - 12 to 14 months. If your Green Card extension expiry date comes close and you still haven't heard anything, make an INFOPASS appointment with your local office and get the I-551 stamp placed in your passport. It will be valid to renew your Driver's License as well. Plan on making that appointment around the end of April if you haven't heard by then.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
