Tampa FL - Had Biometrics Today

My appointment was for 11:00, but because I'd never been to that part of town and wanted to make sure I could find the place (I had no problems), I left too early and wound up getting there before 10:00. The guard at the entrance was very friendly and had no problem letting me in early; he said, "Let's see if we can get you out earlier, too!" There was a sign at the podium that said "Threat Level Yellow -- No Cell Phones, Cameras, and Only People With Appointments For Today Will Be Accepted". I asked the receptionist if she needed anything other than my appointment letter. She said no, and I said, "Well, I brought everything just in case!" She laughed and told me that was a good thing.

I filled out a form that asked for basic information (height, weight, names of my parents, alien number, ect) and took a number. Most people seemed to go in and out in less than five minutes, but some seemed to have trouble getting a clear fingerprint, and one older woman had to have hers done the old fashioned way with ink because they couldn't get a clear picture with the scanner. I was called in about ten minutes by a cheerful Hispanic fellow. He checked my passport (which I'd brought for photo ID), double checked my form, and took my fingerprints via a computer scanner -- he said the FBI would have my fingerprints before I was even out the door, and once they'd checked them against Interpol, they'd send everything along to USCIS. We ended up talking about cooking and culinary school while he took my prints and my photo. He then had me double check all the information, sign my name, and gave me a comment card to fill out. (It asked about the level of service, friendliness, ect.)

On my way out, the guard came over to hold the door open, smiled, and told me "Congratulations. You're almost done!"

I was very impressed (and relieved!) by how friendly and professional they were. The whole thing took less than a half an hour.

Now all I have to do is wait to hear from CSC, I guess. I just thought I'd let people know that Biometrics is nothing to be worried about. Just make sure to bring some form of photo ID and your appointment letter.

"Your mom is in my head right now, and she's saying don't do that."

"For Sale. One Parachute . Used only once, never been opened. Small stain."
