Manila Embassy Interview

I just want to ask a question for clarificatino... I am a little confused from reading all the posts. We have confirmed that the embassy has the papers. Do we have to wait for the K Packet from them in the mail before getting the appointment or can we call the call center and have the date set now? We already have all of the required paperwork...and then some. just wanted to ask to avoid wasting a call or money.

Thanks to everyone in advance.

Hi David,

The Dept. of State (DOS) sets the interview date. In your case, you may start calling DOS around the 25th of June (but I think that's too early, 25th of July may be a better time to call) to ask if a date has been scheduled for your fiance. DOS should be able to tell you the date two months ahead of the interview. The number for DOS is (202) 663-1225 ext. 1,0,0 Make sure you have your Manila case handy when calling DOS.

The embassy sends out the packet 6 weeks prior to the interview.

Speaking of fees, how much is the airport exit fees? in other words how much of a fee will my fiancee have to pay to leave the country? also can anyone recomend a cheap hotel near the airport in manila? my fiancee has an early flight and i dont want her to have to get to the airport at midnight because of no taxis during the night.

oh as you may have guessed got visa and cfo stamp. I was glad they didn't try to persuade my fiancee not to come by telling her that i would beat her. i had heard of that happening. but of course they did ask her why not marry a filipino. Oh well doesn't matter by may 31st 4:30 pm i will be hugging my love at the airport.

Thanks to all for the help over the months. Wishing you all a speedy approval. Thanks for moderating PW, hope you are with your loved one soon. But i may check in everynow and then to post advice for newbies. Take care all. :D

Delbros fee is 165Php within manila. It may differ maybe where he wants to deliver his visa. It will be good that he will stay in manila till the visa delivered. Thanks.......

Congratz to those who got approved and to those who got their interview dates....:thumbs:

The fee is 550 pesos for international flights. Don't know about a hotel, but it seems getting a taxi in Manila isn't difficult anytime.

Hi ryecatcher25,

Your fiancee will fee Php 1,620.00 for the Travel Tax and Php 550.00 for the Terminal Fee when she leave the country. She can pay all that at the airport, she just need to go to the airport as she can. Like in our trip, we went there 3 hours before the flight but we just finished doing things like 45 minutes before the flight cuz its always busy at the airport.

Oh, we stayed at Riviera Mansion cuz its pretty cheap. You can check it out....http://philippines-hotels.us/manila-hotels/rivieramansionhotel/index.htm

Good luck and congratz

Thanks...

Hi everyone, we're searching for a nice point of views from VJ people's here who are advance already in this processing or to some people who got a great knowledge in terms of US immigration.

Me & my USC fiance will be getting married this June 1st, right after the marriage ceremony, the marriage license will be given to us and process it by ourself to make it more faster and also we will proceed of arranging other documents to be in proper change of names. But doing so, my USC fiance decided to do all along with the processing of adoption for my 4 yrs old, before the AOS thing.

Meaning when every documents in our hands are in changed names already and having my son adoption papers, (1) DO WE NEED TO SEND A COPY OF ADOPTION PAPER TO MANILA JUST TO PUT MY FIANCE NAME AS the FATHER for us to have a NEW BIRTH CERTIFICATE showing he is not unto my maiden name still?????? As we know in US, states to states do that, only to processes a new original birth certificate copy, but we dont have any idea if for some international country apply to that.

(2) On processing of our AOS, for K1 & K2 ... since my son is already adopted with legal original documents to prove, Is my son still applying for AOS (residence status) or we could process already (or simply jumping into) application for NATURALIZATION being adopted of a USC??????

any help would be appreciated. thanks so much!

Hi friends,

I'm on my last visit to the internet cafe before returning home (this Saturday) and thought I'd drop in and say hi. No, Fely and I were not able to get married. My daughter has heard nothing from the court regarding my divorce papers, and I am anxious to get back and visit the court to see what the *#$@&(& is thier problem. At the same time, of course, I'm sad to be leaving Fely again soon. It has been a wonderful time here, in spite of the skin disease I seem to have picked up. The relatives here say I have souvenirs to take home with me (pimples and boils in several places, very painful).

I'm already planning my next trip back here, hopefully mid-July if I can find the money and get those divorce papers. We are of course very anxious to get married so we can file our visa petition. I know you all understand what I am saying. I am hoping that the processing times in Calfornia and Manila have gotten better. I'll check into all of this when I get home, if I can find a working computer, as my laptop died here.

I'll be in touch soon, with pictures and stories. Take care all and hope things are going well for everyone.

Hi, it's good to hear from old timers like yogi and rye. Hey rye, those who have taken the seminars say that the CFO shows film clips of Filipina wives who were abused and battered by their American/European husbands. Anyway, our govt. just wants to make sure that we're going into this immigraton thing with our eyes wide open.

Hello StarProg. Sorry to hear about your "souvenirs". My fiance is the same. Mosquitoes and sandfleas seem attracted to him. He gets all the bites while I get only a bite or two. Poor guy. Sorry to hear too about the delay in your divorce papers. I know it sucks but hang in there.

Rebel, can you please post or PM me mdyoung's response to your questions? I'm just curious if he and I shared the same opinion.

Hi guyz,

I'm a newbie here. I just want to inquire about the documents that I need to prepare while waiting for our document to arrive in Manila. Bdw, I'm appying for a K1-Visa and the application was approved from the USCIS last week (May 25 to be exact). My fiance is planning to buy/reserve a ticket but from what I understand while reading your messages here, most of you guys took 3 months just to get an interview date. I visited the US Embassy Manila site but sadly I can't find any information that will say the lenght of waiting time just to get an interview for a k1-Visa.

Thanks!

From NOA2 (Notice of Action I-797 Approval Notice), yeah 3 months is a reasonable timeframe. And from NOA2 to the interview date, to some it took them 4 months, to some it took them 5 months. Patience is the key :) .
