Hey guys,

As some of you might recall, just as I went for my varicella titer over a month ago, the hubby decided to get the damn pox (and I learned I was NOT immune). Well, after lovingly tending to him for 2 weeks, I figured I'd been exposed enough. Oh well... I'm wrong again... went back for titers and guess what? I'm still not immune! Guess the drugs they put me on worked too well. So okay, I got the damn shot, no prob because my insurance covers it. Then I got to the civil surgeon that promised it was no prob to fill out the I-693A for just $20 (although they charged $10 to another VJer last year  ). Anyway, got there and guess what? It's now $25 since I called a few days ago. AND then they tell me I can't get the form filled out because I NEED ANOTHER VARICELLA VACCINATION! :bonk: Now, I didn't know that it was a series and after doing an exhaustive search on VJ, I see that one shot was sufficient for the majority that got it done. I am assuming the 2nd is more of a personal health matter than a USCIS matter. I looked at USCIS' site and cannot find anything about required a 2nd shot. I can't wait another month or two to send off the AOS, so now what? Once again this damn poxy chicken has found a way to screw with my life! :ranting:

any helpful advice would be appreciated. oh and I did try other doctors and was told i MUST pay and get a full medical because "they don't do just the form".

These doctors are out the scam you any way they can, shop around and explain you are on a K1 and that you have already had the medical and that all you need is the form filled out, to be quite honest just pay the $25 as I paid $30 so $25 is still very cheap.

Janice

i don't even mind so much the price... $25 is still pretty okay. if it were more and i didn't need the 2nd shot, i would have paid it. its just the constant hassle, delays and back-tracking that gets on my nerves. the other doctors offices i've called seem to hardly know what to do and then are really rude and abrupt. i hate thinking i am okay and ready to go then having another stupid minor thing pop up. just too frustrating! :(

nayalamb,

sorry for all your delays. i had the same delays with doing the form but not specifically for varicella as i was immune from getting the disease itself. you should check out the cdc site regarding the vaccination so you can be sure the 2nd shot is required-

http://www.cdc.gov/niP/vaccine/varicella/default.htm#what

i hope this helps. good luck on your journey.

thanks much for the link... i guess it is 2 doses... at least if you've not had a dose before turning 13... which would have been impossible because the damn thing didn't exist when i was 13... anyhoo... sigh...

i rather send it in and risk an RFE than sit around and wait for 4-8 weeks with the paperwork sitting on my desk.

maybe USCIS will be happy with 1 dose, maybe not. i'll get the 2nd one next month regardless. so if they ask for it in an RFE or in the interview, i'll have it.
