Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share our experience as to where we are in this visa/green card what ever process becuase I know these boards are very helpful and who knows 10 yrs after me writing this it could help someone starting their journey like we are right now.

First off I wanted to say my time line is in my signature becuase I cant figure out how to write in the official time line box. Next I should say what our situation is. I came here last Oct to visit my GF and we decided to get married and now have to go through this process.

Jan 30 09 we mailed off the application and by the end of the first week in February we go the responses back. By the second week in February my worst nightmare came through, we got RFE's (Requst for evidence in the mail). Even though I know we will get through and over it, WE HAVE TO, or the application will be denied in 87 dys its still fustrating.

So now I understand why this site is called visa journey becuase this is a journey, I just got off the phone with my mum is turned the house upside down looking for my birth certificate and immunization records. She found my birth certificate but not the immunization records. So now she has to go down to the health records office and HOPEFULLY wil be able to get a copy. I say hopefully becuase some countries arent good about keeping those types of things. I understand the US gov needing the immunization record BUT I dont think its necessary for them to bug up about my birth certificate becuase common sense says that in order to have a passport from any country you must have a bday. also i gave them a copy of my countries Dl that has my face and b day on it.

Next I have to call up my aunt who was generous enough to co sponser and ask her for her w2 and 1099, I really hate getting people involve with my problems BUT we had to get a co sponser and my wife doesnt make enough money, her family dont like me and wont co sponser, and my mom and sis arent us citizen or residents so they cant do it so my aunt was my only choice.

I also have to find a civil surgoen and from the looks of things they can be extremly expensive, So I can complete for i-693. Which is goin to be a pain cuase i HATE docrs and I HATE needles. Plus we are going to have to wait at least 3 dys to get anything back from the doctor.

I know I know its our fualt in the long run becuase we shouldnt have done it this way, all unprepared but we are young and in love so I guess its worth it.

To sum it up though I writing this to let anyone know thats filing this stuff:

you will need you immunization records, and birth certificate, and you might as well do a civil surgeon test before sending in the application. Also oh yeah the fee for filing this application is 1,010.00 plus 355.00 for i-130

The uscis wordin is not clear and I thought the fee was like 1600.

So now we are trying to get this ####### done like by the middle of next week becuase the only thing we care about now is my ability to work. Am burning through my savings at warp speed and being at home all day realli sucks. I MISS WORKING!

Then besides that with all this bad economy talk were scared I wont be able to find a job when I am able to work.

So yeah like I said this is journey, no scratch that this is a roller coaster

I agree, take a deep breath and calm down. Undoubtedly there are going to be harder times in your life than going through this process, it can be stressful and tough to get your head around at times - but complaining about the rules is not going to get you anywhere and only stress you out more.

I agree, there's no reason to gripe about the immigration process because everyone goes through it. You are not being singled out here... Everyone pays the same fees and everyone has to go through all those hoops that you are complaining about. I DID TOO. It was hell and there have been times when I didn't get answers soon as I wanted them.

Also, there is no reason to be UNPREPARED like you say you are because everybody is given time to get all the documents and stuff ready and you should've looked into this in the very first place when you and your girlfriend first met and discussed the possibilities of coming here. The DHS/USCIS is not asking for your birth certificate just so they could give you a hard time... they need it to prove your age, identity and nationality. You couldnt've gotten an RFE had you read the filing instructions and submitted all that was needed for your paperwork to be processed. The instructions are very clear and there is nothing vague in the list of documents that they want from you.

You don't need your immunization records when you were a kid. Before a foreign individual is allowed to come to the US they are subjected to a medical examination before their visa interview and somewhere and some time during the medical exam, a panel physician is supposed to ask you what vaccinations you have gotten as a child and what you have not and they will give you what vaccines are appropriate for your age and gender. You don't need to bring your child immunization there. When you go to civil surgeon here to get an I-693 filled out, you will need at least $300 or maybe more depending on where you go and what you need done. Looks like you need to through the whole 9 yards (medical wise).

I don't know if they allow walk-ins for biometrics. But if i were you, I would go on the day you were told to get your biometrics done... It won't do any good going there early.

You need to calm down and quit overloading your head with unnecessary #######. You just need to do what you're told if you want to stay. It's either GROW UP and follow the rules or GRIPE and GO HOME.

Note: Don't run your mouth like that again because it doesn't help and I know for sure whatever you wrote on here is not going to help anyone in the future. You didn't really write anything that is helpful or beneficial to anybody. You have a very good talent of stating the obvious, though...

take it easy....

If you read threads on here you will find that a large majority of people go early for their biometrics, it's one of the few things the offices in general do not mind, so people do go at their convenience - and people do not wait longer, almost everyone is done with biometrics in 15mins.
