This type of stuff in this story is nothing new and has been going on for decades. My 66 year old cousin is schizophrenic and has been on SSI for years. He was made a ward of the state after my aunt died. I went to visit him in a home up in Austin several years ago. The state farms their care out to people and companies such as this turkey farm. Some are good and some are not. I found my cousin living in a group home monitored by the state. I was not impressed and raised hell with his case worker to get him into a facility rather than a group home that was basically just a warehouse full of beds in a sleazy part of Austin. These companies get money from the state and their goal is to make as much money off of the checks they get from the state. They spend the bare minimum on their "clients". People that have no relatives or relatives that give a sh*t end up in the worst places. That is the bottom line.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
