We go up to Cerritos all the time because of the Filipino community and it is a very pleasent place. They have a Goldilocks there that has all the foods Claudeth's misses and loves and they always treat us very nicely.

There is a large Brazilian community in this area but we don't mix with them very often. It seems that most are illegal and trying to become legal so they're always talking about immigration, how to get married for papers, their "struggles", etc. It's annoying.

However, when we DO hang out with Brazilians (usually a few of my students) I'm usually the only American. I do tend to feel comfortable since I know the language and have lived in Brazil. People seem to like that my husband is from their country since it's not as common to see an American GIRL with a Brazilian guy - usually it's the other way around.
