My husband is a K1 Visa holder and we are researching schools so he can get a degree in Fire Science. We will be sending in his paper work for green card at the end of Feb.

One of the Community Colleges will let him attend as a regular student with out green card in hand; just reciept that he's applied for it.

Does that sound right to anyone else? I mean it will save us the $1,000 fee for being an international student if he wants to go with out a green card.

Two other schools (a 4yr and a University) have told me he needs to have the green card in hand or he will be considered a international student.

Can someone please share your experiance?? I don't want to do anything that will risk sending him back to Haiti.
