Perks are not Entitlements

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee closed his show today with some words for politicians, "How about no more automatic pay raises, and another thing...How about we cut your pay five percent each year until you balance the budget."

Drastic? Maybe.

There was once an arguement that CEO's get the big pay and all the perks, because they made the company, and ultimately the stock holders, lots of money. But what about now? Companies are losing money, and I know my retirement accounts have lost half their value in 2008. Will the folks in their private planes, and conferences given by the Swedish Bikini Ski Team, give up the perks? What makes them think they are entitled to such treats when their companies are tanking?

I am not a socialist by any means, but the rumblings are getting louder, from the right, and from the left. You want your perks back? Start making money for America again! And Congress? That includes you too! If we ain't got it, don't spend it!
