Hey VJ friends!

I'm in the process of doing my CR1 through NVC. I'm part way through the process (see my timeline below). I'm currently down in the U.S. visiting my husband, and my mom called and mentioned that I received a package at home in Canada.

It was Part 1 of the DS-230 for the Montreal Consulate (in regards to the K3). Finally it came! I'm a little confused though and wondering what people recommend....

1. Should I just ignore the papers that came/K3 process and continue with the CR1?

2. Should I fill out the papers and continue with that process as well?

I feel like I'm half way through our process at NVC and am wondering what the best way would be to go about this.

Thanks so much!

It's all up to you depending on what you want. If you decide to go the CR1 visa route, you won't have to file for AOS after you enter the US with your visa, you'll get the green card in the mail and that's that. If you decide to go with the K3, you will have to file for AOS, pay $1,010 and wait about 6 months or more for it to get approved.

I am not sure if htat is what Moosker means - I won't speak for her, but if we are already following the CR-1 route with hopes to use it my understanding is that we can either ignore(?) the K-3 process or we can follow it along as some VJ members have, and get a K-3 interview scheduled then try to switch the K-3 interview to the CR-1 to save time...

How is this done and at what point are you paying for the K-3 (which would be a waste of money if you stick with the CR-1)... ?

A&M you're on the same track as my mind! :) I'm just wondering if it's pointless to fill out the papers....seeing as I'm this far in the process. OR should I go ahead and fill it out? I'm just not too sure what to do.

I'm not sure how much time I will "save" again, seeing as how far along I am in the NVC CR1 process.

Thanks for anyone's input!

Just bring this forward again. Today I got the first package from the embassy for the K-3 process. I am towards the end of the NVC process but I have heard my embassy takes around 2 months from Case Approval at NVC to the interview. Was wondering if anyone can tell me more about sending the K-3 stuff back to the embassy and wether it is worth it or not... Anyone continued their K-3 and tried switching the interview to a CR-1 interview as soon as the CR-1 left NVC?
