So I have a question. We had our interview and it seemed to go bad, the officer suggested that we're unusual for having only a civil marriage, and seemed to wonder if the marriage is one of convenience only. We don't go out together often, had no one at our civil marriage, and have gone out together very few times in the year we have been married. Thing is, that we are married, we spend every night together, and have not spent a night alone since being married, we spend evenings together, go to movies, read to each other, etc. We are in love, yet very busy with work...problem is that the officer didnt seem convinced. He seperated us for about 10 mins each, asked questions, like, what types of birth control we use, how we first decided to get married, etc- which we answered correctly. At the end of the interview, he told us we'll get a mail response in 3-6 weeks. What is happening?? Does the decision simply rely on his "yes" or "no"? There is no proof that we are not married. We didnt answer any questions incorrectly, yet he was dissatisfied, seemingly. I mean, isnt there a general conception that EVERYONE is different and that no two couples are going to have the same story, and of course, rarely, a fairy tale wedding. We are young, and of course the green card is part of why we married so soon. Duh, I mean, we cannot make big plans until we get through this phase. I love my wife and will stay with her no matter what, but now we are simply anxious. The process scared us and thats all. Does the officer have to have a legit basis to deny our GC, or is it just practice to scare people with a mailed GC approval? Does any one have any links to similar stories?? Thanks so much!!

I'm sorry to hear that. Do you mind me asking if this interview was first or second time interview? What documents did you provide to the examiner/interviewer? How come he/she separated both of you? Don't worry if your ralationship is legit you have nothing to dread. Wish you all luck!

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

Sorry that you're feeling it was a bad interview. Sometimes I really believe that some of these IO's are on a power trip! I would guess that the yes/no decision is not placed soley in their hands because that could open up a whole can of ugly worms at any time. If you had all the necessary evidences, answered correctly and confidently I would put money on the fact that you'll be receiving your approval very soon regardless of whether it "seemed" to go badly. In just reading the few sentences you wrote here, you seem very sincere, so I wish you the best of luck and be sure to come back and let us know how it goes!

By the way, if the Civil Marriage with no attendees is unusual, then my husband and I are in trouble!!! We did the same thing and believe me it was no fairytale, but we are definitely for real and our nineteen month old daughter seals the deal! Good luck!

You have already posted another topic (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=170691&st=0&p=2532500entry2532500), where you had written that:

1. you have live-in positions where you work

2. she works and you are in college

So it means you are not living together. And here you wrote that you spent every night together...Where is the truth?

Actually, I wrote that WE both have live-in positions where WE work, and thats how we met, if you READ my other post. My wife moved here (where we work) a few months before I did, and we didnt start dating until a year after that, and we got married the following year. So we have lived together for about 2 years. I go to school three days a week and work the rest of those days at the house. WE BOTH LIVE TOGETHER!

Sorry to disappoint, but I am not a fraud, just have an unusual living circmstance.

Thats the truth.

Thanks.
