Hello,

I just sent my i 130 and i am pretty sure i want to try the K 3 path as well. A lot of people have said that if you do, it might slow down the process or the CR I will be accepted at the same time as the K 3. Can some on please shed light on this. Also, if both of them are accepted at the same time and it goes to NVC, will it take the same time in NVC and the rest of the visa process? Which one will be faster to get the interview once they are both approved at the same time?

thanks in advance

There has been a trend of stand alone I-130's getting processed faster at the service centers.

The time at NVC can be cut down with shortcuts available here somewhere. There was someone who just went through NVC (CR1) in 13 days.. so, it can be done, and if thats the case your K3 interview will be conducted for the CR1.

I hope that helped a little bit.

Im sure someone will be along shortly with more info. :)

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Hi Lisa! Sorry, of course I don't know you but you seem to be well informed about this stuff & well, you were just approved for the I-129F (& I-130?) last week. Anyway, are you going to continue for the K-3 Visa? Our papers (I-129F & I-130) were approved last week. I'm thinking we will continue for the K-3 Visa.

If you're going to continue for the K-3 visa...why are you going for that? Is there any particular reason why you prefer the K-3 rather than the CR1?

Also, for the K-3......we do need to complete the DS-230...is this correct? Do I fill one out for myself (the petitioner) as well as for my husband, the beneficiary?

For the K-3, we also need to complete the I-134 form right? I know it has to be above $17,500. Well, i'm not working now (because I was on Europe for 6 months, recently came back and it's so damn hard finiding a Social Worker job)...can I use my father even though he's semi-retired but still works? He also owns a Machinist Factory, as well as, the home we live in? Does age matter? He's in his late 60's.

If I can use him, do I still need to fill out a I-134 as well.

Look, SORRY! I don't know who else to ask. I posted a topic and someone got pissy with me & told me to read the guides, which I did but this is so friggin confusing for me!

Again, I wanted to ask you because we're going for the same K-3, we were approved the same time & you seem to know a lot about this.

Please Help!

Thanks so much Lisa! Sorry to be a pain.
