Hello again,

I've searched all over the forum but couldn't find an answer to this one. My usc wife sponsors me but since she has no income her parents, household members are pitching in. They file their taxes together though and this creates a small problem. In the I-864A's they want the total income of the 3 most recent tax years. Since they filed taxes together there is no such thing on the 1040 form. The total income on the 1040 states the combined total income not the individual total income.

What do i do? Do i use this combined total income of of the 1040 anyway and maybe state that they were filed jointly? Do i take the total income off of the W-2 for those most recent tax years? I do have an individual gross income there.

Thx W

Yes the W2 and/or 1099 forms bearing the sponsor's name will give you their individual total income. Supply the complete tax returns to verify.
