Anyone been to Kenya or Tanzania? Or from either one?

Hi anyone,

I was just wondering if anyone has been to safari trip to Kenya and Tanzania, or probably come from either one? We plan on going there next yr, any advice? Read quite a bit of news that I could relate to the fact that it's not the safest place.

I have been to both countries. Although, I only did a safari tour in Kenya.

Trust me on this, Kenya is much safer overall than Indonesia. Relax and you only need to watch your wallet.

I've been to Kenya but not Indonesia. I didn't feel unsafe but I was with a group of 12 people.

No, not challenging at all. In fact, I will be very grateful if William can provide me more information about safety in Kenya.

I lived in Indo all my life before moving here so I have a pretty sound knowledge as to what the situation there is like I believe William has a sound knowledge too since he had visited Indo most likely several times. It's easy to have a rough idea of what the safety is like in Kenya since he compares it with a place I am familiary with.

Actually I am kinda excited that someone said that it's safer than Indo

Looks like I won't have to worry about safety in Kenya. Plus, we will be traveling with 12 other people (if the trip is fully booked)

Kenya has it's share of bombings and and so forth, but overall, the people that guide tours generally keep you out of harms way.

The comment about watching your wallet, stems from street gangs that will forcibly remove it from your pocket.

Solution: Have two wallets.

Wallet one: put some false/expired ID in it, along with $15-20. Have this one in your purse/back pocket.

Wallet two: All the valuables reside here and the wallet is tucked away safely under your clothing.
