just want to ask a quick question -

in my never-ending quest to never throw anything away that can be recycled or re-used, I would like to know where in the US (preferably in Tejas, even more preferably in Houston) I can donate used stamps to charity

I used to collect them in London and donate to Oxfam; I got all manner of other people doing it too and would lug a nice big bag down there every few months... haven't yet been able to find out where I can take them here though

of course, that hasn't stopped me collecting them

any suggestions? thank you

don't tell me this is something else the US has never heard of

yes, used postage stamps... you tear them off the envelope - ie, you tear off a square of the envelope, and the stamp with it; they have to be undamaged to be of any use - and they're collected by charities, and sold to make money for said charity

I've found LOADS of charities in the UK that collect them, and various branches of Oxfam (in New Zealand and Canada just to name two) but none in the US... I've saved stamps for years, and I'm not going to stop now, so I find it hard to believe no one here wants them...

My neighbour used to collect them for charity and unusual ones she kept as her husband used to before he died I've been saving them when I remember - I was going to send them all back to her because I know she would love it - she is elderly and would get a kick out of mail from the US

Haha - if you really want to It might motivate me to send them off to her, or at least devise a proper place to store them all instead of all around the house
