Wrong name on marriage certificate

So yesterday I picked up the certified copies of our marraige certificate from the court and it dawned on me that mistakenly, we had put my mother-in-law's married name on it instead of her maiden name. Would that be a problem? I didn't think the parents' names would appear on the marriage certificate, but they do. So, I am now concerned as to which name I should use for my mother-in-law when applying for AOS papers for my wife as well as the new social security card? Should I just use the one that appears on the marriage certificate or her real one?

i would go to the courthouse and correct it..not a big deal

when u file aos they wanna know the maiden name AND the married name...when they make any checks and there is a mistake u will get an RFE..so go and let them correct the certificate

I'm guessing your mother-in law was one of your witnesses? As long as your name and your wife's name are correct I doubt it matters.

Oh man! I called the court and they said that to correct it, they will need her mother's original birth certificate, but she doesn't live in the States. Again, this is my wife's mother, not my wife's info we are talking about.

i understood thats ur mother in law...but u have to make correct details on the aos forms..and when they compare the forms and the certificate u will get an RFE..and they wanna know on one form the name and birthname of the parents...
