well thanks for your input, everybody. this process has made me pretty jaded. i dislike not being completely in control of things. the process is self explanatory but you could get denied for any damn reason at any point in the process. i wish it were more fair somehow. like an interview over 3 days or something. more personal. but i guess red tape is all about the hive mind and lack of emotion.

everybody have a good holiday and hang in there...

Oh how we all know, well, those of us that are finished this part of the process, how hard it is to wait for papers and approval! Hang in there. It's particularly hard during the holiday season too when you want to be with your partner so badly! Maybe it harder for you since you've known each other for so long (I note since 1999?). That might makes things seem to be taking a long time.

On a brighter note, you just petitioned in August, so it hasn't been technically that long. I mean to say you're not out of normal processing times at all.

Hang in there! (F)

Just thought i'd mention that for some people the I-797 is really the easy part. Even though the CO is not suppose to re-evaluate an approved petition, we all know that this happens and the interview can be the more difficult part for those going through higher fraud posts. The good news for you is that Canada is not a high fraud Embassy. :)

We've known each other since 1998. Have spent our savings travelling, living together both abroad and here in the States. We were sort of forced to be apart for more than a year as we waited out this process. It was VERY difficult and highly stressful for both of us... and I was a psych major. Now that we're finally married and together for good, we can now look back and see all that it's added to our already strong connection. I'm sure it will be the same for you. Your time will come.

while it is true that the CO is not to re-adjudicates a petition, the CO certainly can adjudicate a visa application. The petition is merely determining eligibility of the alien to apply for a visa. A CO is not to re-determine eligibility, but the rest is in play.

YMMV
