This is a pre-emptive posting to answer any future questions/inquiries on how one obtains a license in the great state of Kaaaaa(add the slight drawl)nsas.

An individual on a K-1 visa needs: Passport, I-94 (valid), marriage of certificate, proof of spouse's citizenship/legal status, and his/her home country's valid driver's license. But, the latter may be needed if the individual's home country's driving program is recognized by the state (i.e. Britain, Canada). When I visited the DMV, they commented that Germany and France are no longer on the list.

Many states want a I-94 that is valid longer than 90 days, more like a year like K-3s get, and most states require SSN.

I know NY will allow Canadians to continue using canadian license until they have green-card, and at that time will simply issue a NY DL and take the Canadian DL and invalidate it.

GC production may be longer than insurance companies like. Most require that one MUST switch over their DL if they are living in the state for a consecutive period longer than 90 days.

We've researched this and have found mixed answers. It would suck to get into a wreck and have the insurance company back out for a simple policy.
