My inlaws have a house in Middletown RI (just outside Newport) We drive down a few times a year, usually every July 4th long weekend for sure. Sometimes in the winter as well for a break, which is nice, as they are in Tampa,lol\

A few Tim hortons in the area,but they taste like #######!! I love RI, so relaxing.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

hiya.. i'm in CT, so closeby!!

We always make fun of Rhode Island.. they kind of keep to themselves.. we rarely see RI licence plates on the highways here, I tease hubby it's cause RI cars have magnets on them that stop when they hit the border like those shopping carts that will seize up if you try to take them out of the parking lot!!

RI seems to be the place you move to, but never move out of ... I mean have you ever met someone in your hometowns FROM RI? do do do do :whistle:

My husband works with a girl from RI... but she came to Philly for college.... she was one of the rare breeds that escaped.

If I lived in RI, I wouldn't want to go anywhere else either,lol I love it there, so relaxing. Hopefully thats where we will retire to, if we can afford the property taxes,lol

RI is a really nice place..but tiny! Know a couple girls that go to school there right now and they seem to like it, but don't plan on staying.
