Hi VJ community,

I realize there is not going to be a lot of people out there who can relate to this problem, but here goes anyway; we were set back for two months at the medical due to further testing for TB, we are expecting the results any day now, LORD willing we will get past that.

The main concern my wife and I are facing now is extreme anxiety over another setback due to a condition she has called Psoriasis, psoriasis is a chronic, non-contagious disease characterized by inflamed lesions covered with silvery-white scabs of dead skin, she has a severe case of it. She tells me, "she has tiny red spots all over her body and big lesions on her legs". They did not make an issue of it at the initial exam and if I am correct the criteria for rejection is that the disease must be communicable or debilitating, both of which this is not.

Is there by chance, anyone who can offer her some words of encouragement, the VJ community has always been there for us and we could not have gotten this far without you.

Thanks,

Ben

I have psoriasis (diagnosed in 1996), and I was not rejected because of it. :) Please encourage her to release some of her anxiety, as stress can cause flare-ups.

She need not to worry with her psoriasis cuz it will not be the reason for denial. Only applicants who have contagious disease will be rejected. So no need to worry. Please tell her that she need not to be STRESSED because that can cause psoriasis to get worse. Stress is one of the causes the psoriasis to get worse and here are some; Infections,Diseases that weaken the immune system, Skin irritations, Cold weather, and Smoking. Psoriasis is curable, hopefully whe will get well soon. Just think positive always.

psoriasis is not curable. but it is treatable to great success today. this journey will bring it out, due to the stress factor of things. she should not have any problems with the medical coz of it. I would suggest to her, to go to the beach and swim in the salt water and expose her skin to the sun. I have had it for half my life and I can tell you it works on your mental state of mind as much as it does your physical state. stress reduction is probrably the most important.

Psoriasis is not contagious, however uneducated people, looking only at the skin lesions try to put up a distance with them causing stress and low self esteem on the patient. What you can do is go online, try to have as much knowledge about it as possible. I'm sure she is under the care of a reliable dermatologist and internist. But educating herself about it will make her more confident and will actually reduce her stress.

Stress as most of here say, is the number one cause of Psoriasis flare ups. So try to sit back and relax. Psoriasis will not cause a visa denial. Diseases that will cause denial are pulmonary Tb, HIV, syphilis and mental illness.

Psoriasis won't be a problem for her. It's not a ground for visa denial.

Tell her to go out every early morning (7-8 am) and stay under the sun for 15 minutes, put moisturizer on her affected skin (petroleum will help soften the scales and they easily fall off), apply medications (given by her dermatologist), and try to manage her stress. Her anxiety is making her condition to flare up.

Psoriasis is not a communicable disease and will not keep her from getting a visa.

I use meds from the PI (without a script) to treat it. It is much less expensive than anything here in the US that has been prescribed by my doctor.

Desowen Cream (desonide 0.05%). A 15g tube is P375 and can be purchased (if in stock  haha) at Watsons, Mansons and Mecury drug stores.

Believe me, this stuff works just as well as the over priced brand name prescribed here in the US, at a fraction of the cost. I always have friends bring some back for me.

Good Luck
