Hello Everybody!!!

I'm in Netherlands right now, having a very nice time with Maarten. I am returning in couple of days, so will write a quick message for now. We finally got our interview date for October 19th. Good news, but we expected it a bit earlier. It took 4 weeks to receive packet 4 after sending packet 3.

I just finished filling out the affidavit form, so almost ready for the interview :) Next: medical.

-Anna

YAY!!! Congrats on getting your interview date, Anna!!!

Hugs, Liz

I called to the consulate again this morning to see if they had received the packet I sent last week and if they had an estimate on when I could expect to receive the interview date. Well, just like last time, it was pretty much pointless calling them, since I didn't learn anything by the end of the conversation. I got to talk to the same lady as last time (by the sound of her voice anyway), she seemed a little less annoyed this time, and started talking to me in Dutch as soon as she pulled up my info. The only thing she was able to tell me was that it could take up to 10 weeks from the time they receive the packet from NVC before they issue an interview date, and she couldn't even tell me whether or not they had received the packet I sent back last week. Not quite sure why she couldn't tell anyone when they call, but all she said was that she'd have to call up everyone who applies for a visa to let them know when they've received the packet, and she doesn't do that.

Want my advice? Don't bother wasting the €0.70 a minute talking to someone who won't be able to tell you anything at all.

Anyway, I filled out my timeline up until now, and I have a feeling that everyone here probably would be able to give me a better estimate as to when I might receive the interview date than the lady on the phone could :D

When do you think I could hear back from them about the interview date?

Hello Johnny! Sorry to hear that the lady you spoke to wasn't very helpful. I know from when Pat called and I emailed that we got a pretty quick response and we were given the info that we asked for. Not sure if they just suddenly decided to change that or what but it stinks that she's acting like that toward you....wouldn't take her 2 seconds to see if they received it or not!

As for your interview.......when Pat received his Packet 3, he sent it back about 5 days after he got it. They received it about 2 days later and within 7-10 days he had Packet 4 back with his interview date. If they are now saying 10 weeks just to set up the interview that's insane! It was 6-8 weeks from the time they received the package from NVC until your actual interview date when we were going through it! I hope that it's not as long as she said and she was just saying out of meaness! I can't see them being so swamped that it would take a full 10 weeks!

Let us know when you hear something though...we'd like to keep up with you and Lindsey!

Hugs, Liz

I'm not sure what's going on at the consulate, I guess they must not like me or something, haha. Well, I hope I do get the interview date as quickly as you guys got it! I am sooooo tired of waiting since March, and I'm sure you're just about ready for Pat to come over as well =]

I'll let you know whenever I receive packet 4 though.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I agree with you Liz, I have a feeling she said it out of meanness. I find it really hard to believe that they are truly that swamped. It took them no time at all to give us out package three, and as of now, it has been about four weeks since they sent out package off from the NVC; hopefully we'll get our fourth packet soon. It will be six weeks the 9ths of October.

I am back in the US. The time in Holland went too fast, as always. Really hope interview goes smooth and we are finally together. Maarten will call tomorrow to schedule the medical.

Lindsey and Johnny: It also took us longer than recent timelines on VJ to get packet 3 and 4. We got packet 4 five weeks after the consulate received our petition from NVC (exactly 4 weeks between sending packet 3 and receiving packet 4). When Maarten called the consulate, they also did not tell us when we will receive our packet. My guess is that people were on vacation in August and they are a bit backlogged. Even though it's not that many visa applications there, they are probably staffed to handle that certain number. I think you should receive your packet 4 very very soon, since you already waited for several weeks.

Daniel and Rianne: Good luck with the interview tomorrow! I will keep my fingers crossed for you :)

Hope everyone is having a nice week!

Blu and Anna, thank you both for some more insight as to when we may possibly get our packet four; it's also good to know that at least they weren't just telling Johnny that out of spite, he's had the same woman on the phone twice now and she has been very rude both times.

Fingers crossed that Johnny will receive something in the mail really soon then. =]

I think you are right though Anna, it would appear that they are backed up at the moment due to their vacation and that it's possible they are not properly staffed.

Hi all,

jumping in for a moment.

Looks like a lot is happening with you guys.

Although maybe not a fast as some might like. From what I have read things sometimes slow down a bit, but no reason visible to us. I know I never realized that they do a lot more than just passing out our visa's when we sat there waiting in the consulate. That is one busy place.

Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed for every one.

Here, I can't believe we already live here for more than 4 weeks.

And I am embarrassed to say that we still don't have a wedding date yet.

But my parents will come over for 3 weeks, starting the last week of October. So we have to schedule the wedding for somewhere in those 3 weeks.

LOL, we are so busy with the house and other stuff, we don't have time to get married

Anyway, it is Thursday, almost weekend again.

Applefest and good weather will make for a lot of fun I think.

Hi Petra!!!

Things settled down a bit better now? How is your son liking school?

hehe....so you'll be having the wedding soon with your parents here in just a few weeks. Are you having a small one or will you go to the courthouse or something?

Sounds like you'll be having fun this weekend with the Applefest! I'll be busy getting ready for Pat to come home the next weekend and on Sunday we're having a little birthday party for my daughter at my parents house. That should be fun!!

Hugs, Liz
