1. If your Jamaican SO doesn't know your name, but has already declared his undying love and devotion in the middle of the beach, street, hotel, party, etc. etc. "Yah/Yo sexy baby/girl/lady yuh nice and sweet...nice and petite...fit body gyal yuh juss mi size....strang body gyal mi love yuh babes."

I get that in Brooklyn

If the first line out of his mouth before anything else is about how he likes to nyam the pums :help:

Or how about - Are you married, do you have kids, can I come home with you tonight?

waaaaaaaiiieeeeee...for real! I was so embarassed the first time it happened. I didn't understand patwah at all...so someone had to tell me what was said...and he had the nerve to be missing all but the four teeth in the back of his mouth at 20 years old!

One of my friends lived with a JA man for 13 years - she swore up and down that they would NEVER NEVER do that - no matter how many times we all tried to tell her some do -

First trip to Negril - a dreadlock w/ stuff stuck in his hair approached her and that was the first thing outta his mouth - the rest of us fell out laughing - she just stood there with her mouth open in shock!

6. If his lyrics/pick up line sound like this "Baby...nuh rush baby girl. Talk to me nuh. Where yuh staying? Eh? Okay. Okay. When yuh come to Jamaica? Eh? Okay. Okay. Pretty one let me come check for yuh nuh. Wha? Yuh leaving tonight? Well...the next time you come to Jamaica yuh stay wid me okay sweetness? Can we be penpals? I like you babe. Yuh nuh see it?"

Then, he pulls out a small notebook filled to the brim with numbers and addresses from anywhere in the world but Jamaica, and flips to a clean page waiting on your response.

I thought about a Red Flags post again last night, and shrugged "What the heck?"...let's try it. Let's try to keep it clean, with no name calling, or picking on physical differences of people involved in the LDR.

I'll start.

2. If your Jamaican SO tells you that they want to spend the rest of their lives loving you, but upon further discussion of merging countries, he convinces you that as much as they love Jamaica and never want to leave, they are willing to do so just to be with you.

3. If your Jamaican man escorts you around Jamaica upon just meeting you, and he tells all his friends/strangers/bypassers "Ah mi wifey dis!!! Yeah man...Eeehhnn."

BTW...all of my submissions will be humorous...so take it with a grain of salt.

LOL Jawi always good for a laugh love number 3 especially!

"Sweetness. I can't stop think bout you yuh know. You remember me? *kiss teet* Eeeehhhn. Ah mi Mike! Stop the foolishness, I know you think bout me. How did I get your number? Security give me your name and room number sweet Brenda."

8. You walk through your front door exhausted from the airplane ride, your phone rings:

You: Hello?

Him: Hi babes.

You: Oh Hi Mike.

Him: I just wanted to make sure you made it home safely sweetness.

You: Oh that was thoughtful Mike. Actually, I just got in.

Him: Yeah. I couldn't stop thinking about you Stacy. I look out of the ocean/stars (depending on the time of the call), and think about your sexy smile/walk/laugh/body.

You: Stacy? I'm Tamika.

-asking for money, right off the bat... for the "light bill that's being cut off", or anything out that makes you feel a little uncomfortable for someone you *just* met. Craig never asked me for money because I flat out said...I do not have it, so do not ask. When I travel, it's for free because I'm a travel agent.

-taking phone calls privately OR not answering the phone when you are with him

-having women "friends" you don't know about and MOST of them have "friends" that are a farrin !

-definitely introducing you as his "wifey" right away

-saying that they love you REAL quick

-that they can't live without you

-that they've NEVER felt like "this" about another woman!!

-never visiting their house (or yard area)

-saying they can't WAIT to work when they get here

-he says...when i get there, i'll help to pay the bills, clean, cook, do laundry, help around the house

-saying they don't smoke (or as much as they really do). this has been THE biggest issue for me and Craig and he was DENIED, but had to pay the lab off for HIS f-k up.

-how many babies? how many mothers ? but YOU are the one they want to be with !?!? forever ..

-PROCRASTINATING in getting things done **especially** for the visa process

-expecting that you bring new clothes, shoes, etc etc everytime you go to visit

There are more, I just can't think of them off the top of my head.... and most of these I didn't go through, but know that they happen from others that I know of.

10. When you ask him why he is so smitten/taken/in love with you; he hesitates, smiles and says "Because you sweet like a rose." Rather than elaborating on your traits that have him acting so strangely from love, he attempts to kiss/nuzzle your face/neck/cheek/mouth.
