the epidural.. I think that for knee surgery the freakin needle goes deeper than with labor.. I think.. na the surgery was painless. it was an arthroscopy, so it wasn't invasive at all.. I was awake and I saw on the monitor how they were fixin my meniscus, and they had this sort of drill, I could feel the bone vibrations, but no pain

THIS IS MY WORST NIGHTMARE!

Ditto.

This is why I haven't had my second hernia repaired. That and the fact that it hurts like a ###### post-surgery. For MONTHS! (I have ventral/umbilical hernias) Hurts to breathe, can't eat, can't bend over, can't get out of a chair, can't wear anything but loose-fitting sweats or shorts, etc.

Plus, when I had the first one "fixed", they accidentally left the thread for the internal stitches hanging out of the incision. As I gained weight, since I couldn't DO anything, I could feel the thread pulling through my skin as I gained fat over the surgery area. It took over 2 months for it to go away. Then, about a year later, I popped another one, right below the one they had just fixed. This one is where my navel used to be. I say used to be because the new one has made my innie an outie. I'll be damned if I'm going to have surgery again, though. Damn hacks. I've been dealing with this hernia for about 7 years now.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

My surgery is elective but will be sooooooooo worth it. I've never been put under before and I'm a major control freak so I'd have the surgery while I was awake if I could. All I can say is they better give me loads of good drugs while I'm waiting around to go into surgery. That way I'll be so out of it I'll have no clue what's happening.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

Apparently, you can now request a partial non-anaesthesia so that some muscles are not under temporary paralysis. If you are concerned about it, then speak to your surgeon/anaesthetist before scheduling an operation.
