hello,

this post is not directly related to K-1 process but i'm kinda curious..

i was just wondering what happens to all the forms and supporting documents after the interview is over..

i don't suppose they give the forms back to my fiancee.. but what about other documents.. like photos, phone bills, hotel receipts, noa1&2, etc.

do all those documents have no further use once my fiancee receives visa at the interview?

or do i need them for AOS as well?

since documents that i'm sending for the interview have to be originals of everything, i will be without any evidence if i don't get them back. would i ever need them again for further use..?

exactly what do they keep and what do they give back? any idea?

any opinion or experience would be appreciated.

Everything you give them becomes a part of your A file. So if it's something that you don't want to give up, I suggest that you send copies of everything.

You take a copy of every original document with you to the interview. After they see the original, they will keep the copy for their files and give you back the original. They just need to see the original, but a copy will do for their files.

Make a copy of EVERYTHING.... better to be safe than sorry.

You will need lots of the documents for the AOS process, so you wouldn't want to have to get new originals again.

Good luck.

i'm kinda confused.. are you saying that i need to send them a copy of my i-129 pakage and another package with all original documents(2 packages)? wouldn't they already have a copy of my initial i-129 petition? can i just send a copy of my i-129 form plus original documents and get them back after the interview? i'm lost.. can you tell me exactly what you sent to your fiance and what your fiance took back after the interview?

I made an extrta set of copies for my fiancee and one set for me (of everything.) They didn't give anything back to my fiancee form the 'original' package. But she had extra copies of her birth certificate (and its translation) and her vaccination supplement (from the Doctor's office.)

We needed the birth certificate and the translation for the AOS filing along with the NOA2 from the K1 and nothing else - but they have asked us to bring copies of everything (Including the K1 package) to the AOS interview. You are right that its nonsense as many of them don't look at any of that but we are taking it with us to the interview as asked - in our case the K1 package was only 16 pages (so not a treekiller!) Good Luck

thanks, motu and fellow vjers..

it seems nothing is for granted.

i will make 2 more sets of entire i-129 package and then i will send a set of copies along with all original proofs of evidence to my fiancee.. just to be on the safe side..

i suppose it's ok to send copies of certain documents such as NOA2, birth certificate, passport since those are essential stuff that i need to keep with me here in the states.

i will just send all the other original documents to my fiancee in korea.

again, i can never thank vj and its members enough for all the valuable info and opinions.. and i hope this post may be of help to other vjers as well.

i'm gonna send all the document to my fiancee this week
