Well, I don't know about in general. In this particular instance, yes. But our parish priest sometimes discuss political issues during mass. For example, we talk about the war in Iraq, we talk about the Death with Dignity Act that just passed in Washington, we talk about the death penalty, especially when a high profile prisoner is about to be executed. He discusses the Catholic church's stance on these issues, and then stresses the importance of our voting/supporting/lobbying according to our own consciences and political views. We are pretty involved in our parish and we are close friends with many of the people with whom we worship. Often excellent discussions come out of what is said during the homily and I appreciate the chance to be more educated on these issues. I've never changed my political opinion based on one of these homilies, but I do at times reflect deeper on my reasons and beliefs. In this manner, it's not possible for me to separate faith and politics because they do go hand in hand for me when it comes to issues of life.

Hopefully, enough of his parishners essentially told him that. Somebody should report him to his bishop.

His Bishop probably knows by now! In fact the Pope probably knows by now.

From my recollection, are you ProChoice or ProLife, not very much to go on as evidence to chose one candidate over the other.
