FL School Shooting - Ft Lauderdale

One girl was arrested after another girl was found unconscious by the snack machine at a Florida high school Wednesday in what police are classifying as an unspecified but "isolated" incident between the two.

The girl discovered to be unresponsive at Dillard High School is in critical condition at a local hospital, while the other girl she apparently had an altercation with is in police custody, Ft. Lauderdale Sgt. Frank Sousa told reporters.

There were unconfirmed reports of a possible shooting at the school, and police swarmed the Fort Lauderdale campus, according to WSVN.

Sousa declined to comment on whether or not shots were fired, but said investigators do have a gun in their possession.

He said the school was locked down "for a brief moment," but classes have since resumed.

Aerial video footage showed students streaming out of the school and milling around before being sent back inside a few minutes later. Another tape showed police escorting the apparent suspect away in a patrol car.

update: suspect went to a restaurant and they got a tip she was in the restaurant. they found her and the weapon in the restaurant.
