Interesting news. I'm sure most of us on the site had no idea VSC employees were trying to become unionized & I'm all about a decent living wage for all.

I thought the service centers were federally employeed which meant - No Unions (????????). I wonder who this action is for - agents? service reps? call agents? clerical? At any rate, thanks for locating this information.

This is only my opinion & personal experience as a union leader, member and activist but its been my experience that an employer - especially in hard economic times wouldn't accept any union activity/contract/proposal, etc... thats proving to be disruptive to the work place, quality of work and/or timely fashion in which work would be completed therefore compromising an organizations mission statement/policies, etc ...

(which at VSC - has become a joke)

If anything a unions stance for adequate, fair, improved pay is due to employees demonstrating continous ability to completing work assignments in the most efficient and cost effective means possible while meeting and/or exceeding an organizations mission statement. (we all know how well thats going)

I've sat at the labor/management table for negotations more times than I cared for and believe me when I tell you - "their justice trip" impacting their work would only defeat their cause.

I know you've been waiting, hoping, praying for a long time now & I dont diminish that but keep your head up - were all going to get to where we want to be.

Where do I support them? I want them to see my signature somewhere so when our petition comes accross their desk, they know i had their backs! LOL

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
