I read somewhere that there are photographers in some FSU cities that do noting but take pictures of women for dating sites. The girls think they are auditioning for a model agency, but the pics wind up on these point-and-click sites, with profiles written without the model's knowledge. Proceed with caution! It seems to me that any woman on a legitimate intro site would be eager to make personal contact independent of the agency.

My landlord in Odessa also ran a marriage agency. He was legit, for the most part I will say. He did try get as much in the way of fees as possible, fees for translations, gifts, apartment rentals when people came to meet girls. Anything and everything an agency offers is available for 1/3 the price if you look around. Even this "legit" agency had some translators writing letters for the girls, some of which were misleading. At any rate, the guy has to get in direct contact soon or he will be milked dry. I can also say that there ARE some scammers and most of them are MEN, not women. As Brad points out, lots of men set up fake dating sites using scammed photos or photos taken off the internet. They set up these sites from internet clubs and work the internet clubs answering all the men that respond. There needs to be direct contact soon so he can determine if the woman even exists.

I would say, if he is interested in a Ukrainian bride (good choice IMHO) is get himself over there. Before he goes send messages to several agencies that you are coming and they will arrange to meet real girls for you. Rent your own apartment from any number of online services. Apartment renatl in Ukraine is basically cheap, depending on how many middle men you are paying for. The more you do on your own, the more money you save, the more direct your contact with a woman, the more likely for success.

Then again, I met Alla in the Prague airport, maybe try there. Just offer to help women with their luggage. Worked for me.
