Hey guys! Congrats on all the aprovals. Quick questions maybe somoeone has dealt with this by now - Do I need to get a new social security card once approved for LPR? I mean getting one w/o the "DHS approval for employment" caption? If yes - whats the procedure?

Thanks

Hello there, all you need to do is to bring your green card, old SSN, and ID's ( passport, driver's license, birth certificate)to your local SSA office. Bring evrything if possible just to ensure that you won't be missing anything. Tell them that you want to remove the restriction on your SSN card. Hope that helps!!!

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

ugh... Official USCIS Announcement on Card Production Delays

So since this probably is going to affect some of you and also my husband, they say you're supposed to make an INFOPASS and go get your passports stamped.

I went to make the appointment and it says "number of persons" should I put 2 since I have to go with him since he can't drive yet? Or just 1 since its only him that is actually needing the stamp?

Oh! and also it asks for "receipt number"... what receipt number?

Put 2 if you will enter with him in the building and go with him to the IO at InfoPass. If you let him go in alone, put 1. Since you're going with him (driving him), if I were you, would enter in, and hence put 2 for the number of persons.

The receipt number is the receipt number of the application for which you are making the inquire at the InfoPass. I believe it is the I485 (his immigration application), so put the MSC number of your husband I485.

Oh, and make the InfoPass in your husband's name, he is the immigrant, right? He is the beneficiary.

Ok so I took my husband to Newark USCIS to get his passport stamped yesterday and aside from driving in that stupid place (in the rain), everything went well.

We got in line and called to a window where a woman asked what we were there for. We told her that Rob was approved for his green card, but hasn't gotten it and we saw the announcement on the website about the delay and wanted to get his passport stamped and she printed out a ticket number for us and told us to go wait till our number showed up on the screen. We waited about 10-15 mins and went to the window they called us to.

We were again asked why we were there, so we told this woman and she looked up some things in the computer and took Rob's passport and told us to go wait by the window at the end and listen for Rob's name to be called.

Then about 15-20 mins later a man came to the window with Rob's passport and explained to us that the stamp was valid for 3 months, handed us the passport and gave us a small card with USCIS stuff on it and said if he did not get the green card by the end of June to call the number on the card.

That was it. Painless really (except the drive ) and now he has his stamp :)

Thank you Sarah for posting. I went in today, all in all it was a short 10 mins walk in and out. The lady IO was a bit cranky, perhaps it was too early in the morning for her:)) She said she's going to give me a 2 months valid stamp, but she gave it to December 31st, 09:)) Since I was downtown, I also went to SSA and requested the removal of the "authorized to work" from the SSN. Easy.

Ah they never took Rob's EAD, though he did have it with him. The guy who interviewed us back in April gave an envelope with his name on it to send the card back once Rob got his green card.
